Tax Information and Financial Literacy

The Low Income Taxpayer Clinic at the Legal Advice & Referral Center offers free workshops anywhere in NH to people who speak English as a second language. 

Topics covered in these workshops include the following:

• The benefits of filing a tax return including

  • the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC),

  • the Child Tax Credit, and

  • other tax credits

• Individual Taxpayer Identification Numbers for those who want to safely file a tax return but do not have a valid social security number

• Identity Theft - what it is, how to avoid it and what to do if you are a victim

• Bank Accounts - what they are and how they can save you money

• Credit History - what it is and why it is important

• Budgeting and methods of asset building such as the IDA matched savings account

• Where to go to get your tax return prepared free of charge

• Other financial education information
